I am strictly a white hat SEO consultant. I use methods which are approved by the search engines - which therefore bring sustained results.
I have always felt far more comfortable with white hat SEO, I enjoy the challenge, researching & writing content, analysing competing sites, hunting quality backlinks. I enjoy the way good old fashioned organic SEO works, and personally I believe that safe, organic white hat SEO is the only real way to achieve long lasting results.
Regardless of how good a black hat SEO is - google will eventually catch up with them. A black hat may be clever - but there are rooms filled with very, very clever people, who're paid to continually improve techniques to weed out any loopholes that black hats exploit.
Oh - I forgot to mention grey hat! A grey hat SEO consultant, is someone who can't make up their mind what they are! ;-)
