I am strictly a white hat SEO consultant. I use methods which are approved by the search engines.
This is not because I believe that black hat SEO consultants are some kind of criminals, I have a great deal of respect for all real SEO consultants who are good at what they do - regardless of their chosen methods.
It is simply because I have always felt far more comfortable with white hat SEO, I enjoy researching & writing content, I enjoy the way good old fashioned organic SEO works, and personally I believe that safe, organic white hat SEO is the only real way to achieve long lasting results. Regardless of how good you are - google will eventually catch up with you. If you're working with a very good black hat SEO, then he or she will probably manage to continue to get the results for you - as long as you're paying them to - but what happens if you ever decide to stop working with them?
If you do decide to work with a black hat SEO consultant instead of a white hat consultant such as myself - then just ensure you're working with one of the best, and that you can afford to keep working with them. The chances are, once you do stop working with a black hat SEO consultant, it won't be long before google & the other search engines cotton onto whatever new technique your consultant was getting away with at the time.
