Sitemaps

As I've said on the search engine submission page, you don't need to submit to gooogle or the other search engines, you get indexed on search engines by getting links on pages which are already indexed.

However one thing you certainly should submit to google - is a sitemap.

What is a sitemap?

There are 2 main kinds of sitemap - one is a list of pages to help visitors to find what they're looking for if they're struggling to find what they want via your websites normal navigation, if you have a particularly large number of pages.

The second - and more important (to SEO anyway) sitemap, is an XML Sitemap.

An XML Sitemap is a file which lists all the pages within a website with some other information for the search engines, info relating to how often pages are updated & which of the pages are more important based on this info - to help Google & other search engines when they crawl your site.

How important XML Spreadsheets are, is debateable, you could argue that as long as you have good backlinks Google are going to crawl & index all your pages anyway - my personal opinion is that anything the helps to ensure all pages are indexed by Google & the other major search engines, is well worth doing - and it takes minutes to do, just go to www.xml-sitemaps.com and follow the on-screen instructions.

Then log into your google webmasters account, and submit the sitemap.
